Install the Chat Widget

Add live chat to your website.

What You'll Get

Once set up, a small chat bubble will appear on your website. When visitors click it, they can message your team directly — no email or phone needed.

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • Access to your Relay Pilot dashboard

  • The ability to edit your website (or someone who can help)

Step 1: Create Your Chat Widget

  1. In Relay Pilot, click Admin in the left sidebar

  2. Click Chat

  3. Click the Create widget button

  4. Give it a name (like "Website Chat") and click Create

Step 2: Make It Yours

Click on your new widget to customize it:

  • Color: Match your brand colors

  • Position: Choose bottom-right or bottom-left

  • Logo: Upload your company logo

  • Welcome message: What visitors see when they open the chat

  • Ask for email/name: Decide if you want this info before they chat

You can also add Quick Actions — buttons like "Track my order" or "Pricing question" that help visitors start a conversation faster.

Step 3: Copy the Installation Code

In your widget settings, you'll see a box with code in it. Click the Copy button to copy it.

Don't worry! You don't need to understand the code — just copy and paste it exactly as shown.

Step 4: Add It to Your Website

How you add the code depends on what you use to build your website:

Shopify

  1. Go to your Shopify admin

  2. Click Online Store → Themes

  3. Click the menu next to your theme, then Edit code

  4. In the left sidebar, click theme.liquid

  5. Scroll to the very bottom and find </body>

  6. Paste your code on the line above it

  7. Click Save

  2. Go to Code Snippets → Add Snippet

  3. Choose "Add Your Custom Code"

  4. Paste your code and set location to Footer

  5. Save and activate

  6. Click Apply

Other Platforms or Custom Website

Send the code to your web developer or IT team and ask them to add it to your website's footer.

Step 5: Check That It Works

  1. Go to your website in a new browser tab

  2. Look for the chat bubble in the corner

  3. Click it and send a test message

  4. Check your Relay Pilot inbox — you should see the message!

You're all set! Your visitors can now chat with you directly from your website.

Common Questions

I don't see the chat bubble

  • Try refreshing the page

  • Make sure you published/saved your changes

  • Check that your widget is turned on in Relay Pilot

  • Try a different browser or device

Can I control which pages show the chat?

Yes! When adding the code, most platforms let you choose specific pages instead of "all pages."
